National Junior Honor Society
-
The National Junior Honor Society recognizes and encourages academic achievement along with extracurricular involvement. Students selected for membership are expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. As active members, students are given opportunities to share their talents and skills with the Lenape community. Membership is both an honor and a commitment.
The selection process for NJHS takes place after the second marking period and includes current 8th and 9th graders. A student must meet the preliminary scholastic requirement of a rolling cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have attended Lenape for one full semester. A faculty council, appointed by the principal, will review information for academically eligible students who are invited to complete a Student Activity Information Form. Academic Excellence is not the sole criteria for selection, however. Demonstrated leadership, school and community service, character, and citizenship are examined for admittance into the society.
