    5th Grade Accelerated

The purpose of the 5th grade accelerated class is to provide students with an opportunity to be challenged appropriately in regards to both content and pace. Students in the accelerated 5th grade class will study all of the 5th grade content listed above, but each concept will be taught to a deeper level.  Additionally, students will be exposed to additional enrichment problems to prepare them for the both the pacing and rigor or our most accelerated pathway.  Most students in 5th Grade Accelerated will study Pre-algebra in 6th grade. The factors considered for placement are a combination of standardized measures, curriculum based assessments, and teacher observation. No one factor can successfully determine a student’s most appropriate placement. Each student’s profile is considered carefully to ensure that he/she is placed in the program that will best meet his/her needs academically, emotionally, and socially.  The criteria used to determine a child’s placement in 5th Grade Accelerated Math are listed below.
