Communicable Diseases

It is imperative that the health office be notified if your child contracts a communicable disease. Children are excluded from school for the following common diseases:
Chicken Pox: excluded until at least 6 days after the last outbreak of "pox"
Conjunctivitis(pink eye): excluded until prescribed treatment has been given for 24 hours.
Impetigo: excluded until judged non-infective by the child's physcician or the school nurse
Measles: excluded until 4 days from onset of rash
Mumps: excluded 9 days from onset or until swelling subsides
Pertussis(whooping cough): excluded 4 weeks from onset or 5 days from start of antibiotics
Ringworm: excluded until judged non-infective by the child's physician or the school nurse
Rubella(German Measles): excluded 4 days from onset of rash
Scabies: excluded until determined to be non-infective by the child's physician or the school nurse
Strep throat and Scarlet Fever(streptococcal pharyngitis): excluded until 24 hours after treatment has begun
