Mrs. Hastings

Dear Fourth Grader,

Welcome to the North Wing and to N-5!     It's hard to believe, but this will be my twenty-fifth year at Doyle. While I have taught first and second grades, the large majority of my time has been in fourth grade, and I love it!  I look forward to learning and exploring with all of you.  Ahhh, the growth we will make together will be incredible! We will MOVE MOUNTAINS!

My family and I made the most of this summer.  We shared time together in the mountains and at the shore, took many bike trips, and enjoyed backyard barbecues,Taco Tuesdays together, and numerous concerts.  We hiked the Stowe Pinnacle in Stowe, Vermount, were awe-struck by the numerous waterfalls at Buttermilk Falls and Watkins Glen in New York State, and took a river cruise on Lake George.  While we had many thrilling moments this summer, the biggest celebration was the first birthday of our youngest grandson, Theo.

Our four-year-old grandson, Jackson, couldn't be happier to be a big brother and is already trying to teach Theo all about numbers and shapes. 'Mimi' and 'Pappy' are thrilled that we live so close to our daughter, Emma, and son-in-law, Chris, in the borough and that we are able to spend so much time with 'our boys.' Before you know it, Jackson and Theo will be flying through our hallways as Doyle Soaring Eagles just like you! I can't wait!

Our 32-year-old son , Joseph, has been on an epic adventure, touring and hiking in India, Nepal, France, and Spain. He even hiked part of the Himalayan Mountain Range!  I can't wait to share some of the photos and stories from his journey with you.

Finally, the 'baby' of the family, Jenna, is currently attending West Chester University, where she is following in her mom's footsteps: earning her degree in education. She sees how much I enjoy what I do and she wants in on the action! She will be finishing up this fall with a semester of student teaching.

Now that you know a little bit about me and how I spent my summer, I hope that you'll be ready to share a bit about yourself and your summer as well.

Most importantly, on the first day of school, the thing you must not, cannot, will not forget is your smile and your positivity.  Together, we're going to make it a great year.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  I can't wait to hear about your adventures and begin new ones together.

Fondly,

Mrs. Lori Hastings
