7750 Physical Education/Health 7
This required Health and Physical education course is designed to enhance the awareness and knowledge of healthy lifestyle choices. Students will explore social and emotional wellness through a combination of both classroom experiences and physical activity. Students completing this course will participate in a comprehensive program consisting of skill development, lead-up games, personal fitness analysis, team sports, and fitness activities. Emphasis will be placed on fitness, its components, and its relationship between physical and emotional wellness. Health education provides students with the knowledge of skills necessary to make a smooth transition into adolescence. Substance abuse, personal wellness and safety, stress management, and human growth and development will all be part of the seventh-grade experience.

This required course has been designed to offer a combination of classroom experience and physical activity. Health education will focus on social and emotional wellness and the effects it can have on the mind and body. In addition, social and emotional wellness, personal fitness, nutrition, decision-making skills, substance abuse, and healthy relationships will also be a focal point in class. Students will gain knowledge of stress management techniques, effective communication strategies, personal safety awareness, recognition of at-risk behaviors, and effective refusal skills. Physical education will focus on the connection between exercise and the brain through personal fitness, team sports, individual sports, and cooperative activities. Students will learn teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship; and they will be able to develop the skills necessary to modify activities to suit their own unique needs and interests.

This required course is designed to teach students the skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential to living a healthy lifestyle. In this course, students will explore the many dimensions of wellness through physical activity and classroom experiences. Students completing this course will participate in a variety of activities in physical education, such as lifetime activities, team sports, cooperative activities, team building, and personal fitness. Emphasis will be placed on fitness, its components, and its relationship to activity. Health education provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to confront health-related issues to make a smooth transition into adolescence. Social and emotional wellness, stress management, healthy relationships, substance abuse, personal fitness, HIV/AIDS, and human growth and development will all be part of the ninth-grade experience. Health-related fitness is a goal for all students. Knowledge, teamwork, cooperation, decision-making skills, sportsmanship, and leadership skills are emphasized as objectives for success.
