    OVERDUE BOOKS

    WHAT DOES OVERDUE MEAN?

Overdue means your book is late being returned to the library.

Your library materials need to be returned on the day your class comes to the library. If you want to exchange books before your library day, you are welcome to do so.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BOOK IS OVERDUE?

      • Each student is responsible for items which appear in his/her library record.
      • Students with overdue items may checkout 1 new item with a reminder note.  However, if they are over their limit by 1 no other materials can be checked out until the other materials are returned.
      • Students with overdue items who need materials for in-school assignments may borrow a book for one day with librarian approval.
      • There is no late fee for items that are overdue under a month.
    • Items that are overdue for more than two months will be considered “Lost” and a notice of replacement fees will be sent. Lost book notices are given to students to take home. If a response is not received within one week of the notice being given to a student, the same notice along with a letter of explanation will be sent to the student’s home.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT BOOKS ARE OVERDUE?

Overdue notices will be sent to students and staff bi-weekly.  If you receive one of these half-slips, it isjust a reminder about your book.  Nopayment is due.

    LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

WHAT DO I DO IF I LOST ABOOK?

      • If a book is thought to be lost, patrons are responsible for providing the funds to replace the item. Please do not try to buy the item yourself.  Many books are library-bound to make them sturdier, therefore a paperback copy is not a sufficient replacement.
      • Come to the library and let us know that you have lost a book. We will tell you how much it will cost to replace the book.  Sometimes the book is thought to be lost, but with a little more time and closer looking it is often found.
    • Bring in the replacement fee either in cash or a check made out to Warwick Student Activity Fund.

WHAT IF I FIND THE BOOK AFTER I'VE PAID FOR IT?

If a replacement fee is paid and the item is found within the same school year,a full refund will be provided. Items found after one school year will notreceive a refund, as the replacement fee has been spent on a replacement title.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A BOOK IS DAMAGED?

Damage includes water, broken spines, coloring inside/on cover, chewed/ripped pages, etc.  If a book gets damaged while under theborrower, he/she should bring it to the attention of the librarian or library assistantto determine the extent of the damage.

    ·        If a book is damaged beyond repairthen the borrower is responsible for the cost to replace the damaged item.

      • Students will be presented with a copy of the damaged item’s record highlighting the replacement cost.
    • If the replacement fee is not received within a timely manner, the librarian will contact parent/guardian by mail, phone or email and a copy of the item record along with a note requesting the fee will be sent.

    UNPAID FINES

WHAT IF I HAVE AN UNPAID FINE AT THE END OF THE YEAR?

If there are any unpaid fines for library books under the borrower’s library record, the fine will follow him/her through the grades until the fine is paid or the book is brought back.  Limits for checking out books may placed on file as well.
