You should expect:

  • A friendly and knowledgeable tutor
  • Helpful advice and answers to your questions
  • Increased knowledge on writing and the writing process after your session

    • You should NOT expect:

  • The tutor to agree to write your paper for you
  • The tutor to be unkind and difficult to work with
  • To leave without a greater understanding of writing and the writing process

    • At the writing center, we help you become a better writer; we do not just write your papers. The goal is for you to improve and have a clearer understanding of how to write your paper, and all your papers in the future, better. By simply writing your papers for you, this does not happen.

    The Writing Center is in room A215 - at the very front of the building. It's directly across the main office.

    On wconline, you can find the best tutor by a filter located at the top of the page. It says "Limit to:" and has a dropdown box where you can select tutors who have, for example, have taken the class that your essay was assigned from and can better understand the requirements!

    Additionally, every tutor has a short bio that you can read if you begin creating a session with them. Get to know your tutors before scheduling!

    All that's required is your essay and your computer. To make the session go easier, though, we ask that you have the following on hand:


  • The rubric for the assignment

  • An example essay that you may be given by your teacher

  • A pencil or paper for writing down notes
